Two days after I recieved this, I found myself with a dead battery and no jumper cables. I had this item in the back of my truck unopened and without the initial charge I assumed would be required. So I doubtfully opened the box and looked at the small jumpstarter. As my vehicle was complete dead where no door alarms or interior lighting worked I thought, no way. Not going to work. Might as well call a taxi to bring me to my other car and foreseen a whole day wasted on recovering my truck. But much to my surprise and great pleasure when I hooked up the charger to my truck batterry and tried starting it, it almost instantly started up. So I give it five stars for working as intended and without any initial charging. I have one of those jumpstarter/air compressor combos that are the size of a car battery and they work but not instantly like this. Very very pleased. Cannot comment on longevity but I feel the one time I needed it and used it successfully more then offset the purchased price.
