I HATE TO MOP. I have 22 year old textured vinyl floors that cover my kitchen and breakfast room areas (about 27’x16’). I’ve tried everything (string mops, sponge mops, scrub brushes, Magic Erasers, etc.) to clean my floors, and not only does it seem like it takes forever, I’m never completely satisfied with the results, and I always end up with a backache when I’m done - so much so, that my husband has taken over this particular household chore. I was looking for a replacement mop when I came across reviews for various microfiber spin mop and bucket systems. After reading opinions on several different brands, I decided to purchase the O-Cedar spin mop. I tried it for the first time today, and I’m thrilled with the results! In addition to using this mopping system, I also tried a new technique for getting ground-in dirt out of textured, no wax vinyl floors, something that I’ve struggled with for years. Despite using various commercial cleaners, ammonia, vinegar and diluted dish soap, I’ve never been able to get my floors looking like new, outside of having them professionally cleaned (something I thought I was going to have to do again, before today). However, as you can see from the pictures, this new technique worked like a charm! I swept my floors thoroughly, filled the mop bucket with very hot water, and then used Scrubbing Bubbles (yup, the bathroom cleaner) on my floors, spraying in small sections. I let the foam sit for a few minutes, then rinsed the area with hot water. The spin bucket allowed me to easily control the amount of water I used on the floor. For the initial rinse, I only pressed the spinner pedal once, so that the mop head was very wet. After going over the section, I rinsed the mop head, spinning it 3-4 times, and going over it over the same section a second time. The microfiber mop head soaked up the water instantly, and it felt as though I was flying through this previously tedious chore! Once I deep cleaned the entire floor (I changed the mop water three times), I filled the bucket to the max fill line with a combination of hot water, a cup of apple cider vinegar, and 8 drops of baby oil. I went over the floor once more with a damp mop, no rinsing. The pictures I’ve attached show: 1. my old, no wax textured vinyl floor before mopping, horribly stained with ground-in dirt; 2. the same section, with the right side only cleaned, 3. the same section, all cleaned; and 4. the floor after the final vinegar rinse. In a little over with an hour, I had thoroughly deep cleaned and shined my floor, with no resulting backache; and it looks nearly new! The spin mop system was so easy to use, I no longer hate to mop! I purchased this product at full price, and have not received any discount or incentive for my review.
