Husband cooks all the time!
My husband loves this griddle. I bought it for him after he used one in a vacation rental house and commented that he liked it. And now he uses this all the time. We have had this griddle for almost a year, and we still really like it. Things to love about this griddle: 1 - the non-stick surface is really non-stick and very durable. It has a sort of odd surface - it's not smooth - has kind of a pattern on the top, but it is really hard, and really non-stick. It even holds up well with metal utensils (I know, cringe) on the non-stick surface. 2 - it heats up very fast and can get quite hot. 3 - the handles and power cord remove for cleaning and storage. 4 - it's big - big enough to do 8 or more pancakes at a time - or 8 grilled cheese sandwiches - or six slices of bacon and four fried eggs. lots of room on this griddle. Things to not love about this griddle: 1 - some of the parts feel cheap. as mentioned above the grill surface is great - heavy, durable, but the grease drip tray is cheap plastic and ours broke after a few months (not sure what happened there - i was not present at the time). The handles themselves are fine, but the clips that hold them on (they're removable) seem more fragile than they should be. (we mostly just leave them on) 2 - the heat is not completely even across the grill. it's not like it's badly uneven; there are not cold spots, just hot and hotter. you learn pretty quickly where the hottest spots are and can rotate food around to make sure everything gets appropriately fried, grilled, melted. The reality is, the kind of cooking you do on this grill is quick, high maintenance stuff, with much flipping and stuff - so really, you just move stuff around to get the even cooking you want. 3 - cleaning is kind of a pain: - Yes, the handles come off and can go in the dishwasher (as can the drip tray), but nothing else can. And removing the handles is a little finicky. They have clips at each end of the handle, which are easy to maneuver when you're setting up the grill and it's cool and clean and you can flip it over. But a little more of a pain when it's hot and covered with bacon grease. (as i said above, we mostly just leave them on) - the size of the griddle make it a little bit of a challenge to get clean. We have a kitchen sink with a faucet that has a hose, but without that it would be pretty difficult to rinse this. The non-stick surface it great, but the pattern i mentioned in the surface does make it a little more necessary to use a soft brush and scrub it off if you don't want residual bacon grease flavoring your grilled cheese (though, hmmm, that actually sounds kind of good) - storage. This thing does not fit anywhere very well. Even with the handles removed, it just doesn't fit in any of my cabinets. I thought about the top of the refrigerator. It has wound up with a spot on the counter kind of leaned up on the wall. Or of course, just sitting out on the island getting used every single day by my husband, especially when I'm on travel. Long review short - a few short-comings, but very happy with this appliance.
