I have been looking for a DC motor PWM speed option inline fan for awhile. When i found this, it was purchased. PWM doesn't waste power in the form of heat like most speed controllers would using an AC motor. Look at the efficiency/comfort gains in the furnance market. The high end lines have DC blower fan motors as the main difference. I unboxed this and bench tested quickly to see power consumption with a kill-a-watt meter. My power consumption vs. speed setting chart is attached in a pic to my review. I also recorded noise via a celphone app, but this was an open air test 6" from unit and was wind noise dominated, not the fan itself. My noise testing was not accurate, but is uniform in method. Great fan! In applications where a person has external controls, I would like to see this fan sold as a standalone fan and power supply. I don't need the nice display nor do i need more electronic pieces which could fail. Simple is normally best. Please consider selling just a single speed power supply (100% duty cycle constant 24VDC) and fan combination without the nice fancy PWM control panel.
