Dolls. It had to be dolls
The Paranormal Women's Fiction force came out swinging today, and Magical Midlife Madness hit one out of the park. K.F. Breene brings her brand of heartfelt craziness in this delightful series debut.
The premise is simple: A 40's something woman hits that dreaded midlife wall. Hubby wants to trade in the 40 year old for a 20 something and change. Kids are mostly grown and what is a woman without a socially acceptable purpose to do but go hunting for HER life on HER terms. Our heroine finds herself as caretaker to a house that holds secrets in a town filled with even more secrets. And not only that, but it's populated by some full out, off their rockers, characters.
I found myself laughing out loud while reading. And when I wasn't laughing, I was grinning away, or nodding agreement at the wise musings of Jessie, our heroine. Because you don't get to be 40 something and not have learned some life truths along the way. Don't get me wrong, Jessie doesn't have all the answers, she just knows that staying in place isn't the way to go. Nor is going backwards, leaving the only pathway left to follow is moving forward. Even when she knows that way isn't going to be easy. Because when you hit midlife madness, the one thing you know is nothing worth having comes easy.
So yes, grab this book right now. Find a cozy place to park yourself and read. You'll enjoy your time, you'll laugh out loud, you'll find yourself in love with Jessie and her new friends.
