This is the 2010 (later) release!
I just received the Blu-ray/dvd 2 disc combo (it is now May 2016) and although it's no one's fault but my own, I'm a tad disappointed :(. This has always been one of my favorite Miyazaki films, but to me the music and wise-cracking remarks of her cat, Jiji, are what really make the film. When the kids were small they'd be singing and humming to this DVD all the time (that DVD is now scratched up to the point of unplayability, thus this recent purchase). I didn't realize there were 2 versions/releases of this same film for the US market, and the version I just received is the 2010 version which changes the music to the original JDM music and some of Jiji's lines are edited out. But its enough to really change the tone of the movie... I much prefer the music of Sydney Forest and Phil Hartman's ad libbed interspersions in the soundtrack in the earlier release (around 2005? I'm going by my kid's ages here...). I will try to find another Blu-ray, this time of the early 2005 release, but Amazon doesn't seem to distinguish the versions in their product descriptions.
