My husband has arthritis really bad and has not been able to sleep well in a bed for several years. My job requires a lot of traveling, with contract lasting at least 3 months, then we travel to a new location. My husband is retired and he accompanies as I change job locations. He starts out each nite in the bed, then he moves to the couch around 2 or 3 am. He blamed the mattresses for his discomfort. He complained that the mattresses were too firm, and caused his “bones to ache”. I have bought multiple foam egg crate mattress topers which did not relieve his discomfort. I saw this mattress pad on Amazon, noted the excellent reviews from other buyers, and in desperation ordered one for him. When the pad arrived, I was skeptical to say the least. It was all scrunched up and stuffed into a box about the size of a saxophone case. I got the “you’re crazy if you think this is going to work” speech from my husband as we unfolded it and put it on the bed. It didn’t appear it was going to fit my queen size bed and was all caddy cornered and twisted. I remembered that the reviewers had stated they had to allow their mattress to air out for one to three days before using it, so with that in mind, I decided to wait and see what happened. AND what happened next was amazing. The pad inflated like an air mattress, except it was more like a gel. By the time we go ready to go to bed that night, it was completely in shape. It fit my queen size bed perfectly. The mattress has a gel foam substance and it forms to your body. I got the 2 inch one, and it is awesome. It is soft enough for my husband to sleep and firm enough for me. We’ve had the mattress for about 6 days now and my husband has not spent one night on the couch. He loves it, he sleeps the entire night and feels rested when he awakens in the morning. As a matter of fact, he likes it so much that he has been slipping in an afternoon nap. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone that is considering purchasing a mattress topper.
