This is my third Perky-Pet bottle feeder, the hummingbirds love it because, who knew, they like to sit while they drink. After feeding them for a year I have learned a few things... all store bought nectars, no matter what brand, mold in the bottle making for a messy & unnecessary cleanup. Last month I tried the homemade simple syrup nectar, amazingly, there was no mold & the birds liked it so much it disappeared within two days. Here's the recipe, one part sugar to four parts water, boil for two minutes, cool. For this bottle I use 12 oz water & 3 oz of sugar, don't be tempted to use honey, or artificial sweeteners, they are harmful for the birds to consume. For cleanup I use an enzyme cleaner that I wish Amazon would put on Prime, it's quick, easy & it's safe for the birds.
