I bought this as a much cheaper (half-price) alternative to the Spin Clean vinyl washer since the two products look identical. I actually like the "vintage" look of the Studebaker better than the bright yellow Spin Clean system. The Studebaker instructions are a bit strange since they don't state to add water to the basin (but clearly there's room in the basin for water). Instead, they say to soak the pads with the cleaning fluid, and run the records 3-4 revolutions in each direction. I decided to use the Studebaker system the way the Spin Clean is used by adding 24 ounces of distilled water in the basin and pouring the cleaning fluid over the two pads. I also bought some microfiber towels for the wipe down process.
On my first try, I cleaned 50 records before pouring out the water which looked pretty cloudy. The sound quality of these records is much clearer, and the normal pops and clicks are far fewer.
Differences to Note: The fluid had a squirt nozzle rather than a cap for measuring like the Spin Clean has. I am buying Spin Clean fluid to use instead. Also, the cleaning towel included is tiny and impractical (like for eyeglasses).
All tolled, though, definitely no real complaints thus far!
