Fair Fair ok... better
I usually wear watches in the 200-500 dollar range from Bulovas, Nautica, Invicta, etc. To me a watch is a fashion statement and should be bold and functional. In my own opinion, the Moto360 does a fair job doing both. Where does it come short? First of all, battery! As a smartwatch device, I was not expecting it to last weeks or even days; I knew from some reviews that it would last you 16 to 18 hours... But: It may lasts you that long only with very minimal interaction with the watch and setting 'Ambient Screen' OFF. That means that the watch is technically dormant and displaying a back screen until you whip it towards you, then it displays the watch face for a few seconds. Even with ambient mode on, the display is darkened to conserve battery life. So as a bold fashion statement does not do any better than a Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband, BlackAs a functional device it also comes short. If I just want to know the time, the first thing it displays is the watch face obscured by a notification (SMS, Alarms, Reminders, etc) there is no way to control what notification actually the watch receives; it is all or nothing. --- Update There is a way to mute some nofications from Android Wear as well as turn off all notification from the watch or just get the priority ones. Good points for the device. The watch comes standard with about 10 different watch faces that are easily changed; there is also a growing community of users creating their own watch faces that are freely shared via the 'WatchMaker Premium' app(99c); so I have only paid for 2 watch faces but have about 30 at my disposal. I also found a trick to make the battery last longer; turning bluetooth off in your phone will yield battery savings of at least 12 hours, the short coming is that the phone will not get any notifications. At the end I am happy with the purchase, but I am very dissapointed about the battery and dimming of the face. If I had known of this issue I would probably have waited for the new generation from Motorola. Update after 10 days of use: bumping it to 4 stars just because of the huge amount of watch faces available for free and paid. Some of the watch faces does use much less battery than some of the ones that have a lot of functions (weather, steps, chrono, colors, etc). Simple watch faces do tend to last a lot more. Update 5-19 The new firmware updates from Android Wear, coming up from Motorola and WatchMaker keeping up with the new capabilities are making this watch even better. It will support WiFi capability adding a new dimension to the watch. I originally got the leather band and have upgraded to the original Motorola steinless steel band. Also worthy purchase. Battery life continues to be about the same, but it is highly dependent on how you use the watch and the apps that you are running with it. Simple watch faces without many bells and whistles do last much longer. Using the watch with 'ambient mode off' you can easily go over 24 hours with no problem. Update 9-15 With the most 2 recent updates from Moto Connect and Android Wear. A nice little addition to change the color while docked. The battery now lasts a little longer even with Ambient Mode On. Now with ambient mode on the watch has a longer dimmed face if the watch face is configured with it; it is not always totally dark.
