As the author of "Calligraphy For Dummies" and also a calligraphy instructor, I recommend this paper to my readers and students. It is one of my favorites. It is perfect for finished work but requires that a person has mastered the use of the pen. It would probably not be a good choice for the beginner who is still learning the correct use of the calligraphy pen. The paper has just the right amount of "tooth" so that the letters look really crisp and sharp. There is no bleeding or fuzzing of the edges. For this reason, the paper is not totally smooth. This is ideal for fine pen work. Contrary to what another reviewer said, smooth paper is not really the best choice for calligraphy. Also, another reviewer mentioned that there were no lines drawn on the paper. This person is confusing practice paper (which has lines) with paper which is used for finished work such as quotations done in calligraphy. You wouldn't want lines on your finished work. This paper is excellent for all kinds of finished work.
