FORGET the pain the furry, fuzzy, feline butt of scooping poo every day.
Godsend...manna from heaven! FORGET the pain the furry, fuzzy, feline butt of scooping poo every day. This machine flat out works! We bought two for three cats in the house. We went on vacation for 10 days and bought these to cover as mother in law hates to scoop out the refuse...so she just checked on it every other day she was able.
after 10 days and 3 full grown male cats it was almost to the top of the resevoir.
only 1 malfunction but easlily fixed the little scoopy thing came loose and it wasnt as effective of cleaning out and litter jammed up on the conveyor system...simple fix of clamping down the part into its slots.
have used since July of 2016 and could not be happier...best cat litterbox investment EVER!!!!
I would estimate maintenance with our three cats...(e.g. clean it out and get rid of leftover dust and small things the auto scoop misses over time) about every three months a pan washout is due.
The only thing that would make this better is if resevoir was sealed to keep odor in better...not a big deal but would have been a nice touch...odor kept in check by arm n hammer additive and a vanilla glade plug in by box.
best litter (have tried 5 different kinds) is arm and hammer clump and seal black label...we use multi cat (3 males)
UPDATE Dec. 2017 A few things learned since first purchasing
1. buy a timer as below like another reviewer suggested they do not need to run 24/7 they will wear out in about a year...I was able to order a replacement motor for mine but it was a pain! it worked for a few months but never the same...probably should have called company direct but I'm a do-it-myself nerd...would not recommend unless you have the patience of scratch building hobby models. I do.. and it still was not fun. SO buy a timer like the one listed below and I set it to clean 4 times per day for an hour...(3 male cats and 2 of these units works fine for keeping it clean) the machines will last SCADS longer if you invest in a timer.
2. Buy quality litter you WILL be sorry in the long run for cheap litter
3. you must clean the pan from the CEMENT LITTER dust that accumulates over time in the bottom or buildup will DESTROY this machine as I mentioned before dis-assemble pan and just hose out cement litter dust and then re assemble...GOOD TO GO kitty!
4. dis assemble pan and things from time to time (every 2 months) depending on how many cats use it...I have 3 and vacuum out nooks and crannies...clean poo ladder mechanism and pan (see # 3 above)
