Zahler's paraguard eventually solved my problem, but keep reading if you want the gory details.
I waited to see if this product worked despite being emailed several times requesting a review. (Bad company for doing this, even if your product worked wonders for me.) Recommend readers ignore any review that did not do this.
I am pretty sure I have had some sort of parasitic worm for at least 2 years. Not sure whether I got it traveling or gardening or eating unwashed produce. First hint was waking up one night with a strange creature resting next to my ear. Freaked out and threw it away. At routine physical doctor said "worms don't crawl out of your ear." So I went on since I had no symptoms.
Next I got some strange virus that did in my inner ear system and left me permanently with almost no sense of balance. This probably wasn't related other than perhaps due to a weakened immune system. Next I caught another virus while traveling in India (no, it wasn't the food there since I got sick on the trip over, vomiting 9 times on the plane trip). Didn't really eat anything much there since my digestive system at this point went into meltdown. Besides, I was staying either at 5 star hotels or with in-laws with double water filtration. Was really sick when I returned, and was run through all kinds of parasite and other tests with nothing found. Felt better after about a month, but never quite right, After a few months a GI guy gave me flagyl and it removed my symptoms for a few weeks (plus generated two episodes of worm-like things in my stool). But they came back. Bottom line is that I think you have to keep at it with the medicine to kill the various stages of the worm growth. I probably got rid of the adults, but still had the larvae maturing in my system. Note to anyone considering flagyl - it is a very strange antibiotic/anti-fungal/anti-parasitic drug that does very strange things to users. Proceed with caution.
Now let me say that American doctors generally do not seem to believe that people get parasites unless simple tests say yes. This is clearly not the case. I suspect there are doctors on the coasts who know how to deal with this, but not in the interior of the US. I had gotten a referral to a parasite doctor at MGH in Boston, but decided to try an over the counter before going there. My own doctor seemed to think I was crazy. Being an ivy-league educated PhD "statistician," I had enough self confidence not to pay any attention to him on that point.
Anyway, I spent hours reading reviews and narrowed the choice down to this product -- being a little scared I could do myself harm by taking an unregulated product like this. Since I wanted to kill all stages of growth, I did 2 weeks on (taking the recommended dose), one week off, 2 weeks on, one week off, and another 2 weeks on. That was about 6 weeks ago and I feel pretty much back to normal (what I felt like before.) My stomach is still a little sensitive -- things like beans bother me that never did before. But it is great to think I hopefully have gotten past the parasites.
