Cat poop made easy
Kid’s story: I’ve been owned by a cat for the last four years now. I’ve also been fully taken in by a kitten as of 10 months ago. Since day one I’ve been concerned that our home never smell like cat waste. I’ve bought some of the “better” litter boxes from big box stores down to the one’s sold by my local tractor supply store. Out of desperation I finally converted a tote into a litter box. This was the closest to a leak free, hooded litter box that was affordable and big enough to deal with unholy amount of waste these two cats produce. If I wasn’t the one feeding them I’d wonder what they were eating.
My story and litter box history: I’m a 31 year old gay man with OCD and Fibromyalgia. Yes, gay people really are as neat as they are stereotyped to be. The OCD is always at odds with the Fibromyalgia. My body can’t keep up with the demands of my mind and when it comes to my babies, the demands of my heart. I need to be a good daddy to these loves of my life, but with Fibromyalgia everything is a chore, including the cleaning of the litter box. No matter all of the various tools I used to make cleaning the cat box as easy as possible it is still physically painful and involved.
Money: I looked at a variety of good ideas that people have come up with for litter box cleaning. When I ran across Omega Paws’ idea I was a little skeptical, (especially for the price) but the gift of desperation led me to try it; besides, financially it was on par with, or less than some of the other litter boxes I’ve tried over the years.
Shipping: I was told it would take upwards of a week to arrive. It arrived in 2 days!
How do me and the kids like it?: My older cat is suspicious of anything new (just like her daddy). This new litter box was inspected thoroughly by her majesty and quickly approved. No adjustment period was needed. When I was finally allowed and opportunity to clean it I dragged myself to the litter box expecting to take the obligatory five years to do it. It literally took a minute. Zip, zap, zoom, over. Just like that. It functions just as advertised. It really is as great as they said. I actually look forward to cleaning the litter box now, just cuz it’s actually kinda cool. I actually clean it more frequently. No more guilt when I hear fellow cat servants say they clean theirs at least twice a day.
Size: I was concerned about the size – it’s bigger than I expected and it fits the kids just right. I’m actually thinking of getting another one in the “regular” size just so I can keep them in the bedroom with me overnight.
Cons: Nothing is perfect. I haven’t noticed the problem others have mentioned with it throwing litter out of the box during rotation, but even so I have a cat mat down regardless. The worst thing about it is the four clasps. They are cheap. They will not make it through the long haul. I just know it. When (not if) they break I will have to do a lil engineering to replace them. One just doesn’t fit quite right, but it does hold. I just have to be gentle and patient with it. Still the pros far outweigh the one con.
Would I recommend it to a friend?: Hell, I’d recommend this thing to people I don’t like. Go ahead. Skip by this product. It’s your loss. I’m pretty sure that Omega Paw will survive without you because this thing is so awesome that it will always be bought by cat servants who are in the know.
