It's a $20 lamp, and people are complaining that the wire is external? Oh, okay. Just going to re-iterate this: it is a $20 lamp. It plugs in, has an on-off switch, and lights a bulb. It's not immensely sturdy, but it doesn't need to be. Put it in the corner of your room somewhere. My only real complaint with it is that the shade might be a little bit too opaque. Even with 15W LED bulbs, it's a bit on the dim side. It's enough to light a small-medium sized room, but not immensely so. A stronger bulb would help, naturally, but the shade could definitely serve to be just a LITTLE bit more transparent. Still, it's a $20 lamp. Get bright bulbs if you need a lot of light. The wire clips to the pole. You'll be fine.
