Overall I'm very happy with this toaster. I wanted one that can toast large artisan bread slices evenly, and this one does well. Pros: Stainless exterior is real metal. It toasts slices evenly on both sides; some toasters of this type don't have heating elements in the interior sides, or they have them but they aren't temperature controlled (as one reviewer noted, those tend to be toasters with a "bagel" setting). I thought the pop up warming rack would be a gimmick but it actually works well.. great for toasting one side of sandwich rolls. The exterior stays cool to the touch. The cord is sturdy and flexible. Cons: It is fairly bulky, which is to be expected for this type of toaster. The controls are on the long horizontal side, but I keep the toaster perpendicular on the counter, so they are hard to see. A better design would be if they put the controls on the diagonal corner so it could be easily operated in either orientation. The temperature control knob has little friction and it has only a tiny black-on-black dimple for the marker, so it is hard to see. A dot of paint solved that. They really need to add some kind of damping for the pop up function. It is less of a pop-up than it is an emergency eject. As other noted, often the toast is ejected out of the toaster. I've had it land on top of the toaster, on the counter next to it, and once it even jumped into the adjacent slot. Raising the warming racks helps somewhat to curtail escapees. All in all, it is well made for the price and performs well, so I'm happy with the purchase.
