Pleasantly Surprised: Very Helpful for Back Issues
I've suffered from back issues for 25+ years and relied on rolling on a volleyball to stretch and "crack" my back for years. I upgraded to a firm roller last year and it helped even more. I bought this lumbar stretcher on a whim. I was looking for pillows to help with my pain while sleeping and saw this. I balked at the price (and truly it is only a couple of pieces of plastic that probably cost $5 to make in China), but the relief I felt the first day was worth it. Considering that a decent massage can run $70+ an hr., this was worth the money. This thing stretches and cracks my back as well as, if not better than the larger volleyball and firm roller that I have. The fact that your spine is cradled inside the slot makes me less squeamish about the whole "cracking" process. The difference in the three levels of stretch is pretty amazing. As much as I'm used to stretching and cracking my back, the hardest level is too much for me first thing in the morning. By later in the day I'm fine with it though. The lowest level is safe for most anyone (obviously anyone with serious back problems should not be using this or any other home stretches outside of what their doctor suggests). One reviewer had lamented the fact that it was difficult to adjust between the positions. If you are holding this device in your hands and trying to do it in front of you, I would imagine it would be very difficult. If you follow directions and kneel in front of it and simply use your fingertips to move it, it is extremely easy to adjust. Photo for size comparison next to one big fat male cat.
Bonus Review: Moses the cat gives this product 3 out 5 stars. Three stars for the fact that it is black like he is, seems to not make any kind of noise, and makes the humans come to floor level where he can have better access to their faces while they are lying still in one place. Would have received more stars, but it seems inedible and does not roll.
