More info for those considering purchase
I just ordered and received two of these for each of my children as we begin the Accountable Kids program (one each for spend and save; we're sticking tithe money directly in an envelope). I found the description lacking, so here is some more information. * What little I've played with them so far, they seem to count accurately. For our purposes, they'll work fine. * It is about the size of a wipes canister or a little larger. Bigger than I was expecting. I was expecting something cupholder-sized. * The lid screws off like a jar. So our "save" jars will be kept up high.... * It looks like it's entirely black plastic. However, only the lid is plastic. Inside the jar part, it's simply a loose sheet of black flexible plastic inside a clear container. I ended up slipping that out, using it to cut a 12x12 scrapbook page to size, then making a pretty label (name, spend/save, etc.), putting that in, and then putting the black plastic back inside the paper. So now they look much better and are easy to tell apart. * If you put in a bill, you push a button to adjust the total. * If you withdraw money, I'm thinking that you just have to do math to figure out your new total. It's really designed for gradual accumulation of savings. I guess you could withdraw, hit the reset button (a tiny button on the underside of the lid), and then re-insert all the money remaining. Kids would probably enjoy that anyway. * It does indeed retain the total if you change the batteries. There is a reset button on the underside of the lid. Hope this helps! :-)
