An amazing origin story, great hero!
Captain Marvel is a great origin story of the most powerful hero we've met to-date in the Marvel universe. When you boil it down it's really about respect, finding oneself, love, friendship, and family. Carol Danvers' life before she received her powers is just as heroic as the one after. I like her, a lot, and love her relationships with her chosen family, her character, and her perfect chemistry buddy relationship with Nick Fury. Carol is a snarky U.S.A.F. pilot who doesn't take guff from anyone, but she will always try and do the right thing and protect those in need. She finds her true strength in this movie, and it's not the only powers she's granted.
There are repugnant trolls out there who tried to trash the movie before it came out and decided to hate Brie Larson (who, btw, is terrific in the role), and they haven't give up even though the movie has made $1.2B and was awesome. These angry folks are upset it did well and all seem to broadly be offended by empowered, powerful women, which Captain Marvel is.
Don't listen to the trolls, go watch and enjoy! I left the theater feeling uplifted and happy after watching this film with my daughter first, then my son, and I went back a third time just for me!
Like Fury, I love Goose the cat (no spoilers!) so much!
