6 Month Review
Ordered this tree in early June 2017 and wanted to wait to write a review until we had the tree long enough to make a solid recommendation. I left the tree in the pot it was shipped in for about 2 months, then I upgraded to a slightly larger pot due to it being root bound. I used miracle grow citrus soil (I think it is called succulent and citrus potting mix) with some organic citrus fertilizer. As of now I have to say the tree is extremely successful and I am more than happy with our purchase. It arrived packaged with a key lime tree I bought from the same seller. I was a little worried that the shipping would be too rough but they were packaged well and arrived with nothing more than a couple damaged leaves. Left the tree out all summer and within about a month(July 2017) it had blossoms forming which was very exciting. Continued watering when the soil was dry and adding fertilizer when recommended by the manufacturer. As I live in Chicago we knew the tree would have to come in for the winter, luckily we have a large south facing window where I hoped they would get enough light to continue keeping the fruit gorwing, by this time we had around 15 lemons that we're about the size of table tennis balls. Around December the tree put out another set of blooms and I manually pollinated them with a few successes. I didn't want to get too many fruits going as I wanted to keep the larger ones growing. As of right now it is still doing very well with new foliage continuing to sprout. I would estimate it gets around 6-7 hours of direct sunlight a day and the room it sits in is pretty warm, around 80°f during clear skies. The lemons are now about the size of a racquet ball and fortunately we haven't lost a single fruit. Apologies for the long review but I was somewhat skeptical when purchasing online and wanted to assure any future buyers that the plants are strong and will be great providers as long as you follow the growing guidelines. I would happily purchase more trees if I had the room to grow them, I strongly recommend.
