Best bang for you buck in a mid-range phone. Amazing value.
I'm super happy with this phone! I had been holding on to my old HTC One M9 as long as I could because I was hoping for a Google Pixel 2 with expandable storage and a headphone jack, but it never happened. Then I was going to get a huawei mate 10, but Verizon and other US carriers decided not to sell them just before I was ready to buy one, so I was a bit hesitant to try this phone. But after exhaustive research, comparing this phone to the OnePlus, Samsung and other obvious options, I pulled the trigger on this phone about 2 weeks ago. I set it up on a T-Mobile plan (it only works with T-Mobile and AT&T). The Huawei Phone Clone software took about an hour to transfer all the files from my old phone via WiFi. It did not put the files where I would have expected, but it was (relatively) easy to find them and copy them where I wanted via ES File Manager. As for the phone performance I'm very very happy. The screen seems very large, bright and crisp compared to my old phone. In fact this is about as big a screen as I would want on a phone. I don't have particularly small hands, but i heve to stretch to hit the keyboard characters on the left side of the screen when I'm typing with one hand. The face ID and thumbprint scanner work great. It came with a clear silicone protective case and screen protector pre-installed. It has 2 sim slots, but one of them doubles as the micro SD card slot, so you can only use one sim card if you plan to use a memory card. I used both slots for the first couple of days so I could use my old carrier and new carrier at the same time until my number was fully ported to the new carrier. Then I took out the old SIM and replaced it with a Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card which cost a mere $39. The photos this phone takes look great to me. The video quality is also excellent. I've shot several 15+ minute videos with it and it had no problems keeping up. I used it this weekend at a foosball tournament and it easily lasted all day, even after shooting a bunch if photos, and three 15+ minute videos. I left my hotel at 10:30am and when I finally plugged it in again at 1am I still had nearly 40% charge remaining. My old phone would have been dead after 2 hours of that kind of use. The only thing I liked better about my old phone are the speakers. My old one had front facing stereo, but this phone has a pretty mediocre bottom facing speaker. It only really detracts from watching Netflix movies in bed, but I can live with that small flaw because this phone has basically every other thing I ever wanted in a phone, including a very reasonable price tag. Do I wish it was compatible with Verizon and other CDMA carriers? Yes. But that's Verizon's and their customer's loss. T-Mobile has great coverage where I live (Chicago area) so I can deal with the slightly worse coverage and cheaper prices. Do I wish it was waterproof? Maybe if I were to drop it in a pool or a toilet, but I never had a problem with any other phone's lack of water resistance. In short, I highly recommend this phone. Samsung and Apple better step up their game. UPDATE: After almost 3 months of using this phone I still love it. There have been a few minor issues with a couple of apps crashing, but I don't think it has anything to do with the hardware, more likely it's just a general Android update issue, such as Google Play services going wonky and requiring a reinstall. Overall, still a fantastic phone for the price.
