I had no issue with filter damage when i opened mine up. There were a few minor bent areas, but nothing enouugh to effect thew performance. It came with a cardboard cross form to support it in shipping. maybe that solved some damage problems. Other than that I'm still impressed with how much nasty was pulled out a otherwise clean room from the old filter.
