I've just received my Gazelle Edge last week. I like using it and the computer seems to be comparable with distance and calories burned when using a gym-quality elliptical (where you can program your age and weight). I've read hundreds of reviews (bad ones first) to try to figure out how to avoid issues addressed. I've found this YouTube link for assembly: [...] I've also preemptively slathered the axle bar with vaseline before connecting right & left bars. I'm 58, took my time to put it together myself and only asked for assistance to lift the Gazelle once assembled. I probably didn't need to have help; it's fairly lightweight. Took about an hour and a half for me; used a small adjustable wrench and phillips screwdriver. I took pictures as I unpacked to see how to re-ship if the product was defective. The reasons I bought a Gazelle instead of an elliptical: 1) Weight. A decent elliptical is going to be far heavier than I can manage to move on my own, 2) Low joint impact. I am still sore from the muscle groups worked but my knees do not hurt like when I've gone biking or used the elliptical at the gym. 3) Cost. If this thing last a year of daily use, then it will be comparable cost-wise to paying for a gym membership (& no excuses why I couldn't make it to the gym). Be prepared to periodically lubricate moving parts & inspect for loose screws. I did consider the Gazelle Supreme but the reviews (not the higher cost) steered me away. I like the computer on this gismo: shows Time, Speed (an average of mph), Distance (I shoot for 5 miles which is about 74 minutes-surprisingly, that's 2 minutes off from when I physically walk that distance) & Calories (for 74 minutes, the display read that I had burned 576 calories which is probably pretty close-I would burn 300 per 30 minutes on the gym elliptical). Watch the YouTube video because it addresses the number one complaint about squeaking. I would gladly pay more money for this thing if they used all metal or had a backlight to the computer. My feet did hurt the first time using it but gelsole inserts for my sneakers eliminated that problem. It seems a tad flimsy and I hope it lasts because I really like this thing. It's why I've only given 4 stars. I work up a sweat with this thing and my fan is way louder than this! So far, I'm very pleased!
