Even though I cut it into pieces, it was perfect for my use. I removed the zippered cover and underneath that was a stretchy material that I cut open to reveal the padding inside. All three pieces are glued together but the firm bottom layer is easy to remove. I used a regular kitchen knife to slice through the padding which was also easy to do. I cut a long piece and two pieces to fit on top of that one to form a "sofa bed" in the back of my SUV.
