Disturbing eye-opener
Chilling to read, chilling to watch the videos. It's hard to dispute what you can actually see, not just read about. Unfortunately, the deniers are the ones who won't read the book. As the author suggests, when a person has their mind firmly made up with a "don't confuse me with facts" mindset, it's impossible to get through with mere facts or reason. As a victim of racial violence in Philadelphia, where I was visiting for a few days (and I have the metal in my face & scars to prove it), I can tell you readers who may be disturbed by the book & videos that being a victim of fists and weapons is almost impossible to describe to someone who hasn't experienced it. My face was pulp by the time they got me to the hospital, and the weeks of recovery left too much time for anger and thoughts of "why didn't I... (do so-and-so)?" God blessed me with a good plastic surgeon, so my profile picture isn't terrible (although the surgeon did not make me look like Sophia Loren as I requested). I don't see a happy ending in sight for this mess. With all else we are seeing in our country run amuck, it's just a question of how bad will it get and how can we stay safe. If people aren't safe in Peoria, Milwaukee, Cedar Rapids or Des Moines, then I guess I'd better never venture out of my seniors community here in suburban Washington DC. Read the book. Yes, it's pretty much just a litany of horrors, but it's fact upon fact upon fact. Then give it to someone else who doesn't have a closed mind and suggest that they pass it along too when they're done. Thanks for reading. C.
