First, a poem about my newfound gaming machine
Amazon of Gaming TV Fire
Quad core, dedicated GPU, not a liar
Sleek black remote whose curves fit in hand
More games and features than I can understand
Throw in a micro SD, one card to rule them all
Pop in Alexa, her soothing voice recognizes my call
I tell her to shut up
She does
4k HD, though my TV is only 720p
It makes me feel small until I see
My mine craft empire, my shovel knight fight
Dolby from my controller, Amazon got this one right
Ok, I think I'm done for now. If you like my poem please thumbs up, or if not thumbs up and I'll fix it.
But really guys, this think is a no brainer. I'm 3 hrs into the new Gaming Edition and I am floored, everything is silky smooth.
Now I'm not a tech gUru and I don't have the latest greatest anything, the only thing that's curved is my belly and the only thing that's 4k is my credit card balance (thanks prime), but I have used the Fire TV ever since it was released and I loved it. I can even watch the screen saver for over an our and just melt into the couch.
Amazon has a winner here. Headphone jack in the controller? Thumbs up. Controller is sleek and styling, comfortable and smooth.
I have the Echo as well, and so I can tell you Alexa is a winner. She listens well, usually does as told, and she even has a sense if humor. It's almost like someine else is there, or maybe I have lost my mind. Though, the Alexa-powered voice feature on the now TV-connected boxes is nice, unfortunately it won't be as robust as what's available in the Echo. For example, you won't be able to tell your TV to turn off your lights.
Anyhow, back to the fire TV. It's worth the upgrade
Folks with regular HDTVs can take advantage of the Fire TV's support of HEVC (high efficiency video coding) for higher quality 1080p streams at lower bit rates. Amazon says that HEVC is roughly two times more efficient than the standard h.264.The new box also supports 802.11ac for better long-range performance, has 75-percent more processing power and a GPU that's twice as fast. All that extra silicon strength is for the company's updated focus on making the Fire TV a low-cost console for mobile games on your TV. To further convince you to start playing games with the device, Amazon not only updated its game controller with a more ergonomic design, voice control and headphone jack, but it also introduced this here Fire TV Gaming Edition. This $139.99 pack comes with a Fire TV, controller, 32GB microSD card and two games (Duck Tales and Shovel Knight). I don't see the price coming down, it doesn't need to, it's very competitive. So no need to wait.
For your reference I have attached screenshot of the developer hardware specs. It's a huge upgrade, so take the plunge and gift the old one or sell it off, you'll be happy you did.
If my poem or review helped, please thumbs up.
