This video features scenes shot with the X1 in daylight and at night played back using the Driving Record Player followed by another daylight segment that shows the map display. The final segment was played in Media Player Classic. You can use any player capable of playing .mov files which is how they are recorded by the X1. You can also see the digital zoom being used. The video does NOT do justice to the actual HD quality of recordings made with the X1! The good folks at KDLINKS have just expanded their line of products with an affordable, very high-quality camcorder: the X1, and I want to recommend it to anyone who is planning to get a dashboard camera. The X1 camcorder is proof positive that big things come in small packages, and the high quality extends from the camcorder itself to the very attractive packaging, which includes not only the camcorder and connecting cable, but a GPS unit that is coupled with the suction cup to secure it to the inside of the windshield. And that's not all-the X1 comes with an 8gb micro SD Card (you can use any Class 6 or higher card up to 32gb) and adapter, a second suction cup without the GPS unit (for anyone that has a properly equipped GPS unit* or isn't interested in recording that information), a connecting cable so the unit can be connected to a pc to be used as either a webcam or to access the data on the storage card. Finally, there is a software cd that allows you to install a very nice program called Driving Record Player. With it, you can access the recorded files made by the X1 and play them back at full 1080p resolution while seeing the speed of the vehicle, including average speed, the distance traveled, the GPS co-ordinates for your trip, plus an additional feature that shows your route on a map in a separate window! The quality of the recordings is outstanding, both video and audio, which is captured by the built-in microphone. The X1 also offers playback using the nearly 3 inch built-in TFT hi-res LCD screen. In the video mode, there is a four-step digital zoom feature and many other options including settings for resolution, exposure compensation, loop-recording, motion detection and gravity sensing. There is a time/date stamp which, like the audio and most other settings, can be turned on or off. And there's more: you can switch to a photo mode for taking stills with 10 different settings for total flexibility under almost any conditions. Images can also be viewed on the LCD display. The unit also has a Mini HDMI output connector. There are multiple language settings and the unit can be set for 50 or 60 Hz operation. Finally, the product description is incorrect about the batteries: Lithium Metal batteries are NOT required; they are not user-replaceable.
