Sharpies don't bleed through!
I bought these to try with Zentangle designs because they're small enough to pack a few into my purse and take to work. I've tried using a medium point Sharpie on the card and it did not bleed through at all! I'm very happy about that because I have two coffee cups loaded with Sharpies just begging to get used. I also tried a Faber-Castell PITT artist pen and that doesn't bleed through, either. So, I have a trifecta of drawing happiness here: inexpensive media, a portable format, and the cards work well with the pens I already have. The surface of the cards is smooth; it doesn't have a tooth or texture that some people prefer but you will get a clean, sharp line with pencil, pen, or marker. Other reviewers have noted that the tiles are thin like index cards, but they are actually quite a bit sturdier than a regular index card. I looked up the weight of an index card to see what the difference is. Paper is measured according to how much a set amount of paper weighs, but the system isn't totally standardized and it can be a bit confusing. Anyway, according to the Paper and More website, a standard index card comes in at 200 grams per square meter. The Artist's Tiles are 300 grams per square meter (says it on the packaging). So there you have it: the tiles are 150% thicker than index cards. Hope this helps!
