I wish I could rate this as 4+ stars, because of one problem, (listed below) Loading 35mm slides is much easier than with devices that use a 4-slide carrier. The F2DSUPER allows users to manually load slides, one at a time, in a fairly quick fashion. The slides align with very little to no tweaking of the carrier. Resulting scans are indeed 20 megapixel resolution, as shown by Irfanview. Onboard color and exposure adjustments are very handy, and allow "correcting" most color changes in very old slides. The only real problem seems to be gamma ... or contrast. Slides with a very wide variation in light values will scan the darks too dark, or the lights as being washed out. Having said that, the F2DSUPER is MUCH better than my previous 5MP scanner, in all respects, and is very much faster than my flatbed scanner. Easy to use, very good quality scans, apparently quite durable. A worthwhile addition to one's "digital darkroom" if one wishes to convert analog film to digital JPG images. 1/28/2014 After converting hundreds of old 35mm slides, I can safely say I still like this device. Irfanview shows the color depth to be an excellent 24 bits per pixel. Also, many of my faded / discolored slides were markedly improved after using the freeware, Paint.Net, to automatically correct the color balance (Adjustments > Auto Level). Found one more difficulty, however. Some of my slides were processed overseas, and were mounted in plastic carriers. One brand of those carriers was a small fraction of a millimeter too wide to be easily ejected from the quick loader. That is NOT a fault of the device! The tight tolerances definitely help aligning the slides for "normal" paper or plastic carriers.
