Great, attractive fitness tracker for improving your workouts and lifestyle
I bought the Polar A360 from the polar website and I've been wearing it for about a week. The only other fitness tracker I've owned was the fitbit one, so that will mainly be what I'm comparing this to. I love this watch band so far. After trying a few Orange Theory classes (a bootcamp style class that makes you wear a heart rate monitor) I really wanted to start tracking my heart rate during all of my workouts. I love seeing where my HR is so I can push each workout a little bit harder. I looked a bunch of the options available right now and the Polar A360 was the most inciting. I didn't want to have to wear a chest strap, but I like that you can if you so choose. Polar is also known for their accuracy in HR monitoring which was a plus. I can't speak for the bands accuracy myself, but it seems to be in sync with my workouts. My wrist is 147 mm (5.8 in), so I was right on the boarder for small / medium and I ended up getting a size small. The tracker does what most others do right now. It counts steps, how many miles you've gone, how many calories you've burned, and how much of your daily goal you've accomplished. There are different watch views that show you where you are each day with your goal. All of them are visually appealing. When you put the watch on and turn it toward you, the screen comes on an shows you the time with where you are on your daily goal. If you want to get more information you have to swipe the screen to get to "My Day" where it shows you all of the other information you may want (steps, miles, calories). It also shows you if you've done any workouts that day, and what your calorie burn was from that. The flow app itself is a little tricky. This is something that I wish was a bit closer to the fitbit app. Sometimes it connects. Sometimes it doesn't. I find that if it doesn't, if I try syncing about an hour later than it's fine. The site / app also tries to give you feedback based on how active you were that day. You can set up more training profiles (other than the defaults it comes with) on the polar flow website (so now I have pilates, spinning, bootcamp, etc) and I like that you can categorize everything. Something that's a bit clunky though is - you can only set up these extra profiles on the website itself. So then you have to sync the device -> the website then back to the app. That can be a little confusing. I've worn this tracker to sleep and the information is only slightly helpful. What's nice about this vs something like the fitbit - it just tracks your sleep. You don't have to press and hold a button for it to do so (which I always forgot to do..). It seems to just know when you're lying down / resting and counts it as sleep hours. It unfortunately, unlike the fitbit, doesn't give a detailed sleep graph. It says how much time was spent in restful vs restless sleep, but there are no extra details other than that. I'd love for this to be expanded on more. A really random thing that I really like about this tracker - you can take the tracker out of the band (so you can switch to other color bands) which means you can also throw it in your pocket if you need to. Something I loved about the fitbit one was - for a nice event a wrist based tracker doesn't really add to one's wardrobe. However for a nice dress, you could put the tracker in your bra or pocket and no one would know. This is one of the few trackers out there now that you can also do this with (it's not easy to hide an entire band). Now for a nice event you don't have to wear this as a watch. Overall - I really love this tracker. It fits well, syncs with google fit, takes my heart rate on my wrist and analyzes each workout. It counts my steps and makes sure I stay active. The touch screen is nice and the information is clear. The tracker overall is just attractive. I believe it's one of the nicest looking out there at the moment. Notifications apparently work if you have an iphone, but they are still working on implementing it with android (which they said should be ready by the end of the month). TLDR: If you're looking for an attractive tracker and you live an active lifestyle and want to really track your fitness, this is a great option and I recommend it. If you don't really care about your heart rate during training sessions (there is no constant heart rate check like the fitbit) it might be worth looking at another options for a little bit cheaper price. Pros: - Solid fit - Does what it claims to do - tracks all of the information you would need - Syncs with google fit - Reminds you to move when you've sat too long - Heart rate monitoring on wrist - Attractive looking device (not too bulky) - Touch screen - Tracker can be removed from the band Cons: - App doesn't always sync with my phone (but there have been app updates that have been helping) - A little pricier than some other trackers - Sleep analysis isn't super helpful
