I had bought two cheaper ones earlier in the year, but was not satisfied - not stable, too small, too many adjustment reguirements, etc. But this one is really stable and the cutting device is really well designed - you just need to learn how to release the spring tension AFTER the bottle is in place so it does not begin the etching as you push the bottle downward into place on the device. The instructions also warned agains using the tapping method which I think is good advice. I had used the tapping method on about 30 wine bottles, some so dark I could not see where to tap. The instructions advise to be patient using the candle heating method and then plunging it into cold water. Sometimes it took two or three tries but the smoothness of the cut using this device and the heat/cold water method is VERY much better than the tapping method. The other aspect I like is that the device is long enough so that you can deal with the smallest and the largest wine bottles on the market without having to unscrew this or that to cut small or large bottles - all you have to do is move the cutting device and adjust the convenient rollers. Simple, convenient, and sooooo effective and efficient!
