The internal oscillation mechanism has been updated with what looks to be a more compact metal coil. The casing has been redesigned by pros to be slimmer, more attractive, and a better fit for hands. The gray power button has a nice "breathing" white LED that glows softly when the brush is on or charging. The instruction booklet is terrible, giving a mysterious air to the white LED when it glows briefly after the brush turns off. The new daily radiance brush head has wide elastomer bristles on the outer ring that grip the skin and the inner ring has variable height bristles. The larger empty gap between the outer and inner rings creates greater suction that lifts liquid up into the bristles better. It's a great upgrade from the older brush heads. After many years, Clarisonic has finally created a modernized face brush worth the price. The lower price comes from laying off more than a hundred people and outsourcing the production, but I don't notice a drop in quality. P.S. There's no advantage in buying the new Mia Smart which shares the same body design unless you're into the firming massage heads or the body brush head. For that price, you might as well dual wield the Mia Prima. The daily radiance brush is great for the body. The USB charging port on the Mia Prima is superior to the wireless dock of the Mia Smart because the device rarely needs to be charged and the dock is a waste of counter space. The gentle mode of the Mia Smart is unnecessary because the Mia Prima starts off at 80% power for the first 2 weeks and a redesigned sensitive brush head with the outer elastomer bristles will be released in two months.
