I'm a physician and use this at work so that I can check a patient's oxygen when I see them, adjust the oxygen, and then have it checked again 20 minutes later by respiratory therapy. I've checked it a number of times against the equipment that respiratory therapy carries, and it has read out the same value. The bar that shows the pulse is very clear so you have no question whether it is picking up the pulse reliably or not (cold or wiggling fingers are a challenge for all pulse oximeters). It came with a silicone cover to help protect it and a cord to hang around your neck if you so choose. It's compact enough that I just slip it in my pocket. The battery indicator alerts you when the battery is getting low.
