Ok, so I was wondering why, after "purchasing" this, I hit the paywall after viewing about 10 articles. There is nothing on this page that tells you how to get the free subscription. What I did was to google "Washington Post Amazon Prime 6 free months" (although any variation will do) and it will come up with results on how to get the free subscription. Just click on the link to the WaPo, and it will take you to the page for prime members, with the 6 month free subscription. After 6 months, the charge goes to $3.99 a month, which is actually not bad.
