A high-value alternative to the Asian-made clones
This is a very good value. My last food processor was a Chinese-made KitchenAid, which was much heavier, but I think it was completely an illusion. The bowl and the safety mechanism built into the handle on the KitchenAid were very poorly designed and cheaply made. The just fell apart after a few years, rendering the entire machine useless. The Braun is much lighter, but the motor seems to be just as powerful and, more importantly, the bowl is a much better design. On my old machine, the safety mechanism was built into the feed tube, which meant that I could not feed anything more than a couple inches long into it. The Braun design allows inserting an entire cucumber, wedge of cheese, or carrot without having to cut everything into two-inch chunks first. Brilliant! I like the cutting and shredding inserts, which are much more space efficient than having a stack of metal disks to store. Overall, the Braun machine and its accessories take up less space than my old processor, both on the counter top and in the cupboards. The variable speed control is very helpful. So far, I have used my new food processor to slice vegetables, to shred cheese, to make a pie crust, and to knead pizza dough. It has performed every task well, and clean-up was easy.
