As for actual thread count I put a ruler and a sheet on the scanner and scanned at 4800 DPI. I got a very clear picture of the weave. The weave is 104 by 76 to the inch. The fiber that makes up the thread is much finer, it may be 0.0007" which would account 1500 count. With regards to thinness of the sheet it only stands to reason that the thinner thread the thinner the sheet would be. The thickness of the sheet is 0.0065 which would imply 154 threads to the inch thick. Since these is woven it is 2 threads thick or a weave of 77. The sheets are nice and soft and pleasant to sleep on. The bottom elastic is whimpy but there is more than adequate material to tuck under the our 12" matress. They are cheap so I guess value and functionality trumps marketing hype. I hope they hold up for a while and don't shrink too much. Small section of photo of sheet and ruler. Tick marks 1/16"
