Purchased Sep 13, 2018. Nipper & pusher working perfectly 1.5 months in!
Disclaimer: I have nothing to compare these against as I just started manicuring myself and this is the first set I’ve bought. Having said that, I read all the reviews and researched different options before purchasing.
Review:
- Nipper works perfectly to cut hangnails.
- Textured rubberized grip on the handles of both tools allows for perfect control (no slipping). Nipper handle is ergonomic and therefore easy to use.
- The cuticle pusher is the perfect size & I assume a good bet for all sizes of nail beds. Small enough for the pinky finger, yet only a couple passes to push down the cuticle on your thumb.
- Protective cap included for safely storing the nipper.
Uses:
- Use the sharp edge of the cuticle pusher to clean any dirt from under the free edge of finger & toenails. Sharp end also perfect for removing the dead tissue along the nail sidewalls.
About the poor reviews:
- I have read all the reviews. Almost every poor review is someone bitching about the nippers being easily damaged when dropping on the floor. Need I say more. LoL 😂
- Some say the nipper blades are dull and pinch more than trim but then the majority of positive reviews say the blades are extremely sharp… so IDK 🤷♂️
- Mine are still sharp however if you notice your manicure tools getting dull, I recommend purchasing cutting tools in high carbon stainless steel. High carbon steel is what expensive kitchen knives and woodworking tools are made of. They may rust because high carbon by itself rusts. On the other hand, stainless steel by itself dulls quickly. Be sure to therefore get the combo: "high carbon stainless steel" as these will keep their sharp edge a lot longer. Usually made in Germany.
Maintenance:
(Since Ejiubas' maintenance instructions in the Amazon item description are in broken english. Here's a refined version):
- Use a non-corrosive disinfectant to sterilize and disinfect the cuticle nipper & cuticle pusher. Note: If you dip the cuticle tools into the disinfectant, don't leave longer than 10 min.
- After each use, remove the dead skin from the tools with disinfectant, then wipe dry with a dry towel, and place in a dry, well-ventilated place. Note: do NOT blow on tools because expiration contains a lot of moisture, and may make the cutter edge damp.
- When not using nippers, put the plastic cover onto the cutter's jaw and put it into provided PVC zip storage bag to prevent the blade from being damaged due to collision or accidentally falling off the floor. Also to guard against accidental stabs or pokes.
