This is a pretty decent topper in my opinion, but it never reached 4 inches. It arrived neatly rolled in a drawstring nylon-type bag, wrapped in plastic, and vacuum sealed. As soon as I made a hole in the plastic, it started to inflate. By the time we removed all of the plastic (took less than 20 seconds), it was fully inflated. We let it rest but it never got all the way to 4 inches. However, it is quite soft and comfortable. It really benefitted us to put this on top of our firm king mattress. It regains its original shape almost as soon as you get off of it after a full night's sleep. And I really like that it comes contained in zippered case already, that's a definite plus. There are a few things that could improve this. One, if the customer pays for 4 inches then this needs to be quality checked to ensure that it's actually 4 inches (I'm annoyed by this but not enough to go through the trouble of sending it back). Two, it was slightly oversized for our standard king mattress - also a quality control thing. We had to pull and tweak it to make it even on all sides but there was still a slight overhang all around when all was said and done. Three, it would be nice if the edges could be contoured. The foam is cut in a way that makes it slide. Some contouring to make it fit to the mattress would be nice. All in all, it is pretty good. Those are small things that could make a good topper a great topper. (This was purchased at full price - no discount was given for this review.)
