Excellent Chromebook
This is my first time using a Chromebook and I didn't know what to expect. I mean it's sort of like a laptop in size but it runs on Chrome, not Windows.
Start-up was fast, almost super fast. You open the cover and BAM, within seconds, you're online. Very cool.
The display is HD and very crisp. I viewed a couple of Netflix nature movies and the display was stunning. No lag or fuzziness. There's a Micro HDMI so you can view on a big screen, but a cable is not included.
The wi-fi is dual-band 802.11 and is fast as well. I had no issues connecting at home, work, or the local coffee shop.
There is 16gb of local storage, but Google includes 100gb of Google Drive storage for 2 years. Personally I've never used more than 3gb of storage, so 100gb should be adequate for most people.
The internal speakers weren't great, but they didn't suck either. Sound was crisp but slightly muted. A pair of USB speakers took care of this. Soon I was rocking in the coffee shop (i forgot my headphones).
Because of my big fingers I'm not a fan of the pad thingy. I was able to plug in a bluetooth mouse and was up and running within 30 seconds. At first I wasn't sure if the Chromebook would allow peripherals, but it did with no issues.
The battery is stated to last 13 hours. I haven't gone that far yet, but I've gotten a solid 5 hours of mixed internet/video streaming use and still had 50% battery left.
The fit and finish is top notch although the top cover can be a finger print magnet. I just throw a microfiber cloth in my bag.
The keyboard has ample sized 'chicklet' keys which are soft and silent. My big fingers had no issues hitting other keys by accident.
In closing, I'm a convert!
My laptops were mainly used for the internet and watching movies. With everything online, like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime movies, this Chromebook rocks!
