Our problem was that we needed a way to have a large GFC plug on a short electric cord from a pool pump connect to an outside socket on our house 40 feet away on a timer. We needed a way to connect the plug to a grounded extension cord that had to be water-resistant - from both any rain and splashes from the pool. This solution is reasonably unobtrusive in it's grass green color and size. It utilizes a combination of an overhang on the lid, electric cord guides and rubberized seals to minimize any potential for water to enter the box. The cord / GFC plug is connected inside the box and the lid just seals on top. Although we do have earwig bugs that appear to like the shade in the box, we have not had any issues with water entering even after weathering (pun intended) multiple thunderstorms and torrential rain. A simple solution, though it works well. On reflection we likely could have picked the smaller size, though we are now utilizing the larger capacity for multiple outside cords and believe this will work well for outside decorations for the holidays.
