Worth the price of admission
I make my living as a dual qualified freight railroad conductor & engineer, which means that being awake for periods exceeding 24 hours isn't out of the ordinary for me, so suffice it to say, coffee is important to my sanity.
Rewind to a few nights ago. I laid down for a nap, and I was immediate called to work (I'm fairly certain they have a sensor in my pillow) so no nap for me. I fired up the microwave, which contained water I had waiting in a Pyrex measuring cup, and my coffee pot, almost simultaneously, before hopping in the shower. After my shower, I filled the thermos with the piping hot water while I finished packing my lunch, and my grip (which is railroader slang for an overnight bag)... Right before I left for work, I swapped the hot water out, and the coffee into the thermos.
By the time I made it to the hotel, I'd been awake for just shy of thirty hours. That was at noon, yesterday. I'm still in the hotel the following morning (0800), so I figured I'd see if my coffee was still at least warm...
Much to my surprise, it was actually still hot. Not scalding, but appropriate drinking temperature. Mind you, it's been in the thermos for 35 hours now.
Color me impressed. Well worth the price of admission.
