Great rug. I read reviews, and was a bit leery of ordering this rug. For the price, I gave it a shot anyway. It's soft. Not shag rug soft, but I don't compare apples to oranges. It's comfortable to walk on barefoot. It lays flat, eventually. People complaining that something that's been rolled up tight for any period of time doesn't lay perfectly flat instantly are just searching for things to complain about. The smell is faint. It's made of natural materials and smells faintly like cut grass. It's going to. ANYTHING new is going to have a smell. I guess those complaining about the smell would prefer the plastic, artificial smell of other rugs, and should seek psychiatric help.
