I already have two of these I use all of the time. I purchased this third one as a backup, when I was searching for a way to contact Mueller and saw they had a $20.00 discount coupon. I have used three other brands of instant cookers and this is by far the best. My oldest one is a little over 2 years old and still going strong. I purchased the second one a couple of months later. I cook a lot of things I serve with rice, so, with the second cooker, I can set it up to cook the rice and have them done at the same time. The Mueller has enough presets you really don't need to worry about manual settings. One of the presets should work for just about anything. If you do want to use manual, all you need to do is select a preset, then select manual to adjust the time or power level. One thing to note is the Mueller tends to cook a bit hotter than the other cookers I've used. This isn't a problem when cooking an entree that requires a large amount of liquid. When I cook rice, grains, or anything else that tends to absorb a lot of water, I just add a little more water than I normally would, to keep it from cooking too dry. Besides being a great cooker, Mueller has top of the line customer service. I had loaned one of my cookers and it was returned without the power cord. When I told the person I had loaned it to, they looked for it and couldn't find it. I used the contact form on the Mueller website, explained what happened, and asked if I could purchase another power cord. Not only did I get a response within an hour, but they replaced my power cord at no charge and shipped it the following day.
