doggie road rage
your dog will not fall out, or be able to jump out. I ride with a 14 pound angry schnauzer. She barks and lunges at everything. If she sees other dogs, squirrels, favorite swimming places she hurls her body weight to the side she wants while barking furiously. It rocks the boat a little, but as long as her harness is on tight and the seat's straps are nice and short she's not going anywhere. The strap on the seat is hooked to 3 sides keeping the dog stuck in the middle. The only dangerous part (for me) is other dogs lunge at us in response to what i assume are challenges to fight to the death in dog language from the bike riding terrier fury in the back seat. i make sure and go far around other dogs and make sure the owner has a good grip on the leash. No one is more surprised than me that i haven't ended up pedaling for my life while being chased by pit bulls. i wasn't sure if my dog was enjoying these rides or not. But now when i try to get my bike out of the garage she runs around it doing the awkward pick-me-up jump and glaring at me with her beady little eyes. I'm not allowed to take the bike out without her. UPDATE- After several rides she got braver and braver. I had to add a second leash to hold her head more forward. She found if she wiggled her harness sideways enough she could make it to the back of the seat and hang off the back dangling off the edge. Scared me to death, but she didn't fall and continued to bark. She regrets nothing. I feel like she needs a hannibal lector mask and straight jacket to ride well. It works great for my other dog that holds still, but he doesn't much care to go for bike rides.
