Another reviewer wrote about the smell, but I bought Bella anyway, hoping that reviewer was an overly-sensitive vegan who spends too much time at the naturopath's. Alas, Bella smells like something you wouldn't want your food or any body part anywhere near, if you care remotely about toxic chemicals effects on humans. I can't figure out where the smell is coming from -- some apoxy on the ceramic? The glue used to attach the metal bottom (which presumably houses the electric coils) to the ceramic? I've boiled water in it three times, once with vinegar to see if it'll go away. Ill report back but I'm pretty sure ill have to return this kettle from whence it came. :(( UPDATE: I ended up letting it off-gas in the living room for a few days. When I went back to check it, the smell was COMPLETELY gone. I mean -- absolutely, 100% gone. I was conflicted, but ended up keeping it and have been using it for almost two years now.
