Checks all the right boxes - size, function, and value!
Was a bit leery when I bought this for myself as a birthday present this year. I'm normally reluctant to purchase items I haven't yet put my hands on. But I did the research on this and comparable items from other manufacturers, decided this was the one for me, and pulled the "Proceed to Checkout" trigger.
On top of it arriving very quickly and being packaged well for trouble-free shipment, this monocular telescope has proven to be superior to (and more advantageous than) even some binoculars I've used in the past.
First off, it's small enough to be conveniently portable yet still large enough to feel substantial in one's hand. The hand strap is padded in the right place so it fits comfortably and doesn't feel like a distraction.
Secondly, they eyepiece is sufficiently comfortable when pressure is applied to the head/face, and that's important. You'd be surprised how many similar products use inferior materials in that area.
Thirdly [is that even a word?], it's perfect for concerts and going to the theater (which I do more often than birdwatching or stargazing). To be honest, when I used binoculars at concerts and plays/musicals I always felt a bit self-conscious -- a bulky pair of binoculars does tend to draw attention to itself and can make the user look, well, a bit creepy. (Not to be confused with opera glasses, of course, a staple of the stuffy highbrow set.) Using a monocular telescope feels less obvious and intrusive and lets introverts like me avoid unwanted attention (though the couple seated next to me - season ticket holders just like me - insisted on borrowing them for a time.) If you go to the theater much and aren't sitting in the first five rows you really need an item like this to fully appreciate the production value of the show -- the costumes, sets, etc. Lots of time and attention to detail goes into those things and it's a shame to not see them for all they are worth.
From my back porch I can see some birds thanks to my neighbors having birdfeeders on their property. I wasn't much of a bird watcher anymore until I got this telescope, and I still don't do it all that much. But it's nice to take it some of the beauty in the world once in a while. I'd forgotten how soothing birdwatching can be.
Enclosed with the telescope is a device to attach your smartphone to the eyepiece so you can substantially increase the magnification of whatever you're looking at and take photos or record video. (Good luck doing that with most binoculars!) I was pleased at how simple it was to set up properly. That should come in handy at outdoor concerts and events where I can sit on the grass or a hill and take in the event without having to get down close in the bustling crowd. Not a fan of crowds nowadays, and even less so in this COVID world we live in. The telescope purchase came just in time, turns out!
For a telescope of this price point it has remarkably good build quality. It feels like it will last forever. Not intending to drop it to test its resiliency, but not fearing it either.
You can read up on the rest of the specs in the product description if you need to. But bottom line is that it's a solidly-built piece of equipment that's still light enough in weight to be portable and comfortable to use, and it has many more uses than it is primarily marketed for. You don't have to be a birdwatcher to find everyday uses for this. People-watching is as much fun as bird-watching. Take it to the mall or the waterpark too. Take it to the auto races. And for heaven's sake TAKE IT ON AN AIRPLANE if you have a window seat!
If you can't find a good use for this you're just not trying.
