Tons Of Heat
Let me start by saying the room size description on the Amazon listing is incorrect. It is listed as suitable for a 250 Sq Ft area. The manufacturer specs is listed as 144 Sq Ft area. 144 Sq Ft makes this heater about 5000 BTU, suitable for a small to medium size room (about 15x20 Ft). This unit will pull about 12.5 AMPS on High (1500 Watts). It is certainly possible to burn your electrical outlet if using an extension cord (not recommended). Remember that most outlets supply 15 Amps and will overload if multiple appliances are plugged into the same outlet as the heater. If you MUST use an extension cord I wouldn't use anything over 10FT and rated no less than 15 AMP (10 Gauge) capacity. I've been running my heater on high 24/7 for the last couple of days and have not had any issues with odor or unusual sounds. Of course we do hear the thermostat clicking on/off but only barely. My wife is a super light sleeper and it doesn't bother her at all in our tiny bedroom. I suspect the unusually loud cracking/popping sound lots of folks are complaining about is due to either poor assembly of the panels or poorly manufactured and treated metal components that are "over" expanding and contracting during heat-up and cool-down cycles which make those annoying sounds. It's the same annoying sound you hear from underneath your car when the Catalytic Converter heat shields expand. I've owned a Trillion (seems like it) Radiant heaters over the last 20 years and I've learned that a properly assembled heater will run very quiet but keep in mind that ALL Radiant type heaters will slightly pop/crackle during cold start but should go away once fully warmed up. So far all is good with my unit. I will certainly update with any issues
UPDATE: This heater is fantastic! We live in a 100 year old building that is very drafty and this Winter has been a challenge in keeping comfortably warm. Our annual Winter routine is to put up the cold weather curtains and seal up our windows. This year we also added this heater and have been very surprised by the heat this thing puts out. It really packs a punch for the small size. Can't comment yet on how our electric bill will be affected. It does dry the air but that's expected when set on high. We run a humidifier. Hopefully this thing will last a few years......NOTE: The photos were taken during a 27F Degree day with our window slightly open in a 12x12 room. Didn't need the heater on but wanted to test the accuracy of thermostat. Sometimes my home thermostat shows +/- 1 degree
