This machine has been a breath of fresh air. I've owned the Breville Barista Express in the past, and haven't see any reviews comparing the two, so here we go. Some major differences for me: Calphalon's portafilter is the standard cafe 58mm size (which fits the standard 3rd party tamp) and distributes water more evenly than the Breville. Calphalon's burr grinder is beyond better in that you have full control over the precise grind size. Breville has increments you don't get to decide on. Calphalon's steam wand is designed after a commercial steam wand and makes micro foam easier than Breville's smaller wand. Calphalon's water tank is basically 2x as large as Breville's, removing the annoyance of constant refills. Calphalon's Temp IQ technology makes waiting to pull a shot 3x faster than Breville in my opinion. I enjoy the experience of the Calphalon over the Breville Barista Express. I've been a barista in multiple coffee shops and unlike the Breville, working with the Calphalon authentically feels like working in a cafe. Hope you all found this helpful!
