Ingredients listed below, and what the are, what they do /Long review
I don't know why we all have such different experiences with having white cast or not. I can only tell you about MY experience, and you can decide for yourself :) Skin care is trial and error, and it is great that we are all trying to find a good SPF for our skin. I consider it my #1 skin care product. I included all the ingredients and there is a little blurb as to what the function is of the ingredient. I'll start by saying that I have NOT experienced white cast. I have fair skin that leans dry. It doesn't feel gross like some sunscreens can (typical store shelf stuff). I use the correct amount (1/3 to 1/2 tsp on face) of sunscreen every day, and even reapply throughout the day (I don't wear much in way of make up, so it is easy enough for me to do). I add some to my neck, chest, and then anywhere else I need. But my primary focus is face, neck, chest, and hands. After applying a full 1/2 tsp -- which is a lot when you begin to slather it on (dabbed on in pictures so you can see how much I put on), I massaged it in and MOMENTARILY noticed a white cast (around hair line, nose). It didn't pick up with the photo I took, so I didn't include it. I did include a photo of it while it is absorbing, and my skin is clearly still wet looking. Once it absorbed, it was no longer visible. My skin had a sheen, but again I put on 1/2 tsp all at once. My last pic is partway through a hot day (I have a physical job)- light sheen but also sweaty. No white streaks at all. I know my fair skin makes it easier to mask "white" but I can still see whether I have white cast or not. I know those with darker skin could see more evidence of white cast, or depending on your skin it may not absorb the same as mine. I think that is the key thing: absorption. Now if I didn't want to see a white haze at all, then I would apply less, but apply twice. So put on about a 1/4 teaspoon. Let it absorb. Then apply another 1/4 tsp and let it absorb. Voila. No white cast. That is mostly how I do it, and it also minimizes the extra damp look. Not exactly greasy or oily, but just wet. That pretty much all goes away with breaking down application into two layers. Just gives skin a better chance to absorb thoroughly and in a timely manner. The main thing is to let it absorb. It takes longer for your skin to absorb the heavier consistency of mineral/physical sunscreens (containing zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) compared to chemical sunscreens. If you are following up with make up, still.. let it absorb first otherwise the make up will impede the absorption and any whiteness will just linger longer. I have no problem with this sunscreen. Been using it daily for nearly a week. No skin issues, no pilling over make up (again, I don't wear it often, but when I do it usually a skin loving sheer foundation, so I don't mind adding sunscreen on top later on in day). I also am in the habit of allowing layers of product to absorb. ALSO, there is something to do with compatibility in general, like oil and oil wont pill as much as water and oil? This has a little of both, so Im not fully able to explain, but it could be why some may experience more pilling/beading. Overall.. It isn't my favorite, I tend to have a bias toward Korean or French products, but this isn't too shabby. PS. I have redness and visible veins from ROSACEA (non-acne) and this doesn't make me flare or feel itchy like some products can. Some info from their page: ------- Safely protects from the sun --Instead of risky chemical UV absorbers like oxybenzone and octinoxate (ingredients that can damage reefs and marine life), we use reef-friendly, non-nano zinc oxide to provide broad-spectrum protection. Not only that, we obsessively tested it to make sure it actually rubs in and disappears on skin (for real!). Cools and calms --Wild gooseberry extract helps calm the effects of infrared light, which can heat and irritate baby’s delicate skin—while plant-derived antioxidant bisabolol calms irritation and moisturizes. Replenishes what they’re born with --Squalene is a skin-moisturizing superhero all babies are born with, but it depletes over time. Our stable version, renewable, sugarcane-derived squalane, helps sunscreen glide on, adding weightless moisture to help bring natural balance to the skin. ------- FULL LIST OF INGREDIENTS!!!!!!
