I was a little wary of the singer 4423 because of a couple negative reviews. Fortunatly,I received a good one,and have had nothing but great results since I first put the pedal down. The stitching is smooth and quiet,and the knobs are fairly easy to figure out.The self-threading mechanism is a little tricky,but in the proper light is still useful. The one step button hole feature is very easy to use, and aside from a small knot of thread at the start/stop point;leaves fine results. As a review for the 4411 mentioned;the lighting on the 4423 is terrible.The presser foot is awash in shadows.I remedied this by attaching an aftermarket flexi-neck sewing light with industrial-strength Velcro, to the side.
